Cadaqués

Cadaqués is and old fishing village, situated in the Catalonia “Alt Empordà”. It is in the National Park of “Cap de Creus”, between the Pirenees and Cap de Creus, for which the Park is named; it is also the farthest oriental point of the Iberic peninsula. And has many small bays which make a natural port. It is also surrounded by the most extraordinary vegetation.
The cobbled streets and the original old walls around the town hall, the church which is situated on the highest point of the old part of the village, looks down on a small bay which is internationally famous, makes for an enjoyable experience.
The church has a prestigious baroque altarpiece made in wood in 1725 and painted in gold in 1788, it was designed by Jacint Moretó and built by Pau Costa.
The name Salvador Dalí, the famous surrealist painter, is obviously associated with Cadaqués, this world famous painter stayed for long periods in his house in Port-LLigat, which is now a museum, and situated 2 km. from the centre of the village.
The environment of Cadaqués invites excursions, on foot, bicycle or boat to enjoy the full beauty of the scenery and the incredible little bay which surround the village.
